چکیده
Some arguments are given, related to the apparent universality with which Bloch's famous T 3/2-law is not only found in d=3-dimensional ferromagnetic systems, but also in lower dimensions. It is argued that • one should not simply apply the usual isotropic dispersion relation ω(k) = D · k 2 known to almost everyone but only valid for circular precession of the spins (i.e. where only the exchange interaction is taken into account), but instead one should consider also the other interactions and use the less-known relation ω(k) = ω a (k) · ω b (k) for elliptical precession, • one might consider the apparent universality of Bloch's T 3/2-law as some kind of 'quantum universality' in a certain finite-temperature crossover region of a quantum phase transition at T=0, • i.e. one should use certain simple crossover-scaling arguments for better understanding of the phenomena, instead of the usual, more complicated derivations by direct integration.

Crossover effects in the Wolf-Villain model of epitaxial growth in 1+1 and 2+1 dimensions.
A simple model of epitaxial growth proposed by Wolf and Villain is investigated using extensive computer simulations. We find an unexpectedly complex crossover behavior of the original model in both 1+1 and 2+1 dimensions. A crossover from the effective growth exponent βeff ≈0.37 to βeff ≈0.33 is observed in 1+1 dimensions, whereas additional crossovers, which we believe are to the scaling beha...
متن کاملScaling of entanglement entropy in the (branching) multiscale entanglement renormalization ansatz
We investigate the scaling of entanglement entropy in both the multiscale entanglement renormalization ansatz (MERA) and in its generalization, the branching MERA. We provide analytical upper bounds for this scaling, which take the general form of a boundary law with various types of multiplicative corrections, including power-law corrections all the way to a bulk law. For several cases of inte...

Conditions are established for the existence of a scattering length and an effective range in the low-energy expansion of the S-wave phase-shift of a central potential in two and three dimensions. The behavior of the phase-shift as a function of the momentum is also derived for longer-range power-law potentials which do not fulfill these conditions. ar X iv :0 81 2. 40 54 v1 [ m at hph ] 2 1 D ...
متن کاملBrownian motion with variable drift: 0-1 laws, hitting probabilities and Hausdorff dimension
By the Cameron–Martin theorem, if a function f is in the Dirichlet space D, then B + f has the same a.s. properties as standard Brownian motion, B. In this paper we examine properties of B + f when f / ∈ D. We start by establishing a general 0-1 law, which in particular implies that for any fixed f , the Hausdorff dimension of the image and the graph of B + f are constants a.s. (This 0-1 law ap...
